Darley Dale 1sts beat Pilsley by eight wickets
Darley Dale 1st XI travelled to Pilsley in a match that proved to be another successful encounter for the Station Road team.
Darley won the toss and asked the home side to bat first. As is so often the case, the wicket of Saeed Bin Nasir dictated the outcome of the match.
This time it was the turn of 16-year-old Greg Ward, in his first match for the first team, who bagged the crucial wicket for just 38, leaving Pilsley struggling as Sam Lightfoot, Simon Cotterill and Craig Elliott chipped in with wickets, aided by great fielding work from Jack Stone and debutant Andy Paulett.
Pilsley scored just 135 from 40 overs leaving Darley 52 overs to chase their total.
In reply, after an early stutter Darley were in cruise control. James Marsden and Elliott unlocked the Pilsley defence and were the mainstay of the innings.
When Marsden was adjudged LBW for 21, it was the turn of Paulett, who dealt with the Pilsley attack with ease.
Together, Elliott who played beautifully for 68, and Paulett (17 not out )guided Darley past the winning post for another 22 point victory.
The victory leaves Darley in third place and chasing promotion.
