Darley Dale second XI travelled to take on Whitmoor CC in a Division Seven North Derbyshire County League match.
Darley Dale lost the toss and were stuck in on a green and sponge like wicket.
Taylor was unluckily dismissed in the second over lbw and this set the tone for Darley who battled hard but lady luck did not pay a visit.
Captain Shaw batted defensively with regular wickets falling at the other end, though a partnership did begin to form with Jon Cooper (19) who nicked a swinging delivery and was well caught at first slip.
Whitmoor’s D Parsons (5-29) bowled with great accuracy.
However, with Darley wobbling on 70 for 6 Greg Ward (48) and Josh Wragg started to rebuild the failing innings. In a partnership of 60 the young men guided Darley to respectful total of 146-8.
In reply, Taylor and Horton beat the bat several times but had very little luck, before Richard Holmes leapt high off the ground and managed to hang onto a one handed catch dismissing Ede (43).
Shaw then dismissed the other opener Fern (39) and Darley where sensing a collapse from the home side.
However it was not to be as the big hitting of Oldale (31) guided Whitmoor past their target of 148 with eight overs to spare.
