De-Light for Ben after impressive display at Congleton Parkrun

Buxton Athletic Club’s runners returned some notable results from last weekend’s Parkruns, with Ben Light taking an impressive second place at Congleton, finishing in a time of 18 minutes and 34 seconds.

Two very talented juniors, running at the hilly Lyme Park, continued their excellent form, with Louis Forshaw-Perring (19.45) crossing the line second overall and Joe Uprichard (20.37) finishing in third.

Buxton produced a sizeable turnout of 19 runners for the recent Wincle Trout Fell Race, and all received a freshwater trout for finishing the event.

First home for Buxton was Jason Bennett (45.51) in 11th place, while Jo Bednall (55.41) was the first lady finisher for the club.

Jo (01.03.10) was again the club’s first lady finisher in the Boar’s Head Fell Race at Lyme Park, while Richard Bouglas (59.38) was the first male home for the club.

Rob White (46.48) finished eighth in the Castleton Fell Race, ably supported by Darran Hawkins (51.18) and Gayle Johnson (01.03.20).

In the junior race, Elliot Meylan and Will Tighe were first and second respectively in the under-14 boys’ category, with Amelia Newbould coming home second in the under-14 girls’ race.

At the Derwent Valley Road Running Tour - which comprised of four races held out of Duffield, Wirksworth, Milford and Rowsley - Rachel Chatwin returned a fine third position overall in the ladies section.

At the second meeting of the Staffordshire Moorlands Summer Series in Wetton, along a course which took in the tough Ecton Hill, Bryan McKenna finished 16th, with Sheila Bradley the first female over-55 and Cris Milton the second female over-60.

• The next monthly Pavilion Gardens 5K takes place on Saturday, starting at 9am from the Burlington Road end of Broad Walk.
