“Just like we are at Derby County, there are people in sport across the county driving to be the very best that they can be, which is great to see,” said McClaren.

“It’s a privilege to be able to attend the Derbyshire Sports Awards that showcases the efforts of those who have excelled in their chosen fields.”

Rams defender Jake Buxton, is also due to attend the evening, having made the shortlist for the Professional Sportsperson of the Year award.

There are 13 award categories for the event, which is organised by County Sports Partnership Derbyshire Sport and designed to recognise outstanding contributions of both grass roots and elite sports athletes, coaches, volunteers, officials and clubs from across the county.

Four Commonwealth Games athletes – Adam Peaty, Liam Pitchford, Caroline Povey and Will Sharman – have been shortlisted for the top award of the night, the Sportsperson of the Year.
