Andrews at the double in battling victory

Tansley Tigers u15s 4

Old Whittington u15s 3

Two superb strikes from top scorer Matt Andrews powered Tansley to a hard-fought victory on a glorious sunny Sunday morning.

Both sides had early attempts on goal and Tansley could easily have gone behind but keeper Josh Wilks kept the visitors at bay.

Andrews’s first, on the half hour was a powerful volley into the top corner after another pinpoint cross from Ryan Parsley.

The visitors replied before half-time when a long throw was headed past the Tansley keeper.

The second period saw Tigers take control, with a second for Andrews, a powerful headed goal from Tom Hobday and a delicate glancing header from Jameson Ward

A three-goal lead seemed unassailable for the visitors, especially as Tigers, were carving out numerous chances, but for all their pressure they could not add to the score.

The final five minutes saw the Tigers concede two goals in quick succession, to once again give manager Mark Andrews a few jittery moments on the touchline, but the final whistle sounded and the Tigers claimed three more vital points.
