Ashover secure a vital point at R-R

Cromford’s crucial match at the top of Midlands Regional Alliance Premier Division against league leaders Allenton United ended goalless and so they were unable to close on the leaders.

Third-placed Rowsley 86 slipped down a place when they lost at home to fourth-placed Melbourne Dynamo 1-0. Dynamo leapfrog Rowsley into third place.

At the other end of the table, Ashover gained a vital point as they frustrated Derby Rolls-Royce Leisure in another game that finished goalless.

Matlock Sports, looking to avoid being dragged into the relegation battle, are running out of matches to prevent that happening as they lost 3-1 away at Derby Royals.

Wirksworth Town, after a series of disappointing results, got back to winning ways with a 3-1 victory at struggling Holbrook St.Michaels.

Rowsley 86 Reserves, like their first team, failed to score on the day but they did at least gain a point from their goalless draw at Little Eaton.

Ambergate won 3-0 over Little Eaton with goals from Shaun Bestwick, Shaun Welch and Craig Tipton.

Wirksworth Town Reserves lost 2-0 at home to league leaders Allenton United Reserves but Wirksworth Ivanhoe won 5-0 away at Punjab United Reserves.

Elsewhere, Sandiacre Town followed up last week’s first win of the season with another three points, this time by beating Willington 4-2. Nathan Daley grabbed a hat-trick in the win with Scott Pickard scoring the other goal.

Newmount waited until two minutes from the end to score their winning – and only – goal of the game against Mickleover RBL with Danny Guild obliging.

Allestree continue to stretch their lead at the top of Division One.

It is now nine points following a 6-0 demolition of Holbrook St.Michaels Reserves. Danny Thornhill (two), Daz Annable, Ollie Sheare, Adem Mahmood and an own goal made up their scoring list.

Allestree were, however, outscored by Woolley Moor United who won 8-0 at Derbyshire Amateurs.

Helping Allestree extend their lead was Derby Singh Brothers’ 4-2 win over Derby Rolls-Royce Leisure Reserves. Danny Cooper, David Chopra, Inderjit Modare and Fatinder Dhamrait all hit goals for the Derby side.

Mickleover RBL Reserves remain at the foot of the table after losing 4-1 to hitherto second bottom Pastures.

The Ripley Town climb up the league ladder continued as their 2-0 win against Bargate Rovers enabled them to latch on to the top group.

Jay Harrison and Steve Bayliss scored the Ripley goals.

While Swanwick Pentrich Road Reserves had to settle for a 2-2 draw with Punjab United, Guy Wilding and Mark Waghorn scoring for Swanwick, Tibshelf, with goals from Gareth Riley and Nathan Hadley, beat Findern 2-0.

Melbourne Dynamo Reserves, with goal number 18 for the season from Farrell Scott, and two from Matt Archer, won 3-1 at Hilton Harriers to maintain their challenge.

Pastures Reserves played out a 2-2 draw with Bargate Rovers Reserves, Aaron McGoldrick scoring both of the Pastures goals.
