Vipers kept their unbeaten record going with a hard-fought win against a strong Somersall team.

Early on, Vipers produced the best chances with Tom Payne and Lewis Higton going close to opening the scoring.

However, after 15 minutes, Vipers broke the deadlock when Lucas Brough produced a great finish, sending the ball flashing past the Somersall keeper.

The second half was a more even contest with Somersall creating some great attacking football, but Vipers’ defenders Michael Wright and Spike Armstrong produced a great defensive display.

Vipers looked dangerous on the counter-attack and won a free-kick 25 yards from goal with Higton producing a great cross for Charlie Mellor to get his head on and make it 2-0.

Somersall heads did not drop and they pulled a goal back with some great work down the right hand side, beating the impressive Vipers’ keeper Joe Whitfield.

Somersall’s joy was shortlived as Brough produced a great run and cross down the left hand side for Ryan Baldwin to fire home at the far post to seal the victory.
