This week the Buxton boss bolstered the squad with the signings of midfielder Luke Dean and defender Spencer Harris.

The duo went straight into the team for Tuesday’s 3-2 win at Stocksbridge Park Steels, with Harris even getting on the scoresheet.

The fact that regulars such as Lee Morris, Tim Ryan and Jack Broadhead were absent from the match day 16 also gives McIntosh confidence in the strength of his squad.

He said: “I thought we moved the ball around well especially in the first half at Stocksbridge.

“We could have had four or five goals really and I was really pleased with how the two new lads played.”

McIntosh also added that he won’t rule out bringing in further reinforcements, adding: “I’m always on the lookout for players that will improve us as long as it’s within my budget.”

Harris, 22, joined up with the squad on Tuesday after signing dual-registration forms with Guiseley.

However, McIntosh says that there is an element of uncertainty as to how long the centre-back will be with the Bucks.

He added: “He’s a great header of the ball and he showed that with his goal.

“I’m sure he’ll have been delighted with that especially on his debut.

“He’s on a non-contract basis at Guiseley so it’s something we have to look at game-by-game.

“I have to thank Steve Kittrick (manager) for letting us borrow him whilst Jack and Tim recover.”

Broadhead and Ryan are hopeful of being passed fit for the trip to Marine on Saturday, whilst top-scorer Morris is doubtful with a hip concern.

Meanwhile, Buxton will travel to Prescot Cables on Saturday, September 14 in the FA Cup first round qualifier.
