The Millers returned to training on 10th June with light work aimed at bringing the group together once again.

“It was good to be back training again, everyone is just itching to get a ball at their feet again,” said Clark.

“Preparations are going well for the new season and we are just chomping at the bit.

But with no firm date as to when their CMFL South Division campaign will kick-off, Clark admits the club are still in limbo.

“We have got a football field down there and all we can do is go up and down with the mower,” he added.

“We are just looking for bits of information as to when we might be back.

“Our schedule was in place before lockdown, so we knew where we were going and who we were playing.

“We were looking forward to making a few new friends but it is all about a waiting game and getting news from the FA. Without their go ahead we are in limbo.”

Uncertainty also continues over whether fans will be allowed in when non-league finally resumes.

But Clark believes teams such as Clay Cross would be capable of holding games with fans in attendance.

He added: “From our perspective, we’ve talked about it quite a lot, social distancing would be quite simple for our level of sport.

“We have capacity for 500 but get crowds of around 100. We will look at social distancing as and when needed, but we are just looking forward to things coming back as they used to be.”
