Darley Dale Dynamoes U8s started their season in style with a fine 4-1 win over Matlock Town Spartans on Saturday.
Tommy Gill and Dylan Bayes immediately caused Matlock problems down the left while Ben Crooks came within inches of opening the scoring.
Bayes opened the scoring midway through the first half after a lovely pass from Sam Gould.
Minutes later, James Andrews intercepted a pass and slammed home to make it two.
A fine through-ball by Gill put Crooks through but the keeper made a great save.
The second half started off a much closer affair, and only a couple of brave saves and some strong defending kept Darley’s two-goal cushion. Darley made the game safe with a flowing move, started by Thomas Wiggley and stabbed home by Joe Novelli.
Darley saved their best goal for last, another sweeping move finished off by Bayes as he curled a left footer into the roof of the net.
Meanwhile, Darley Dale Panthers U11s hammered Somersall Rangers 8-0 and rocketed to the top of the table after just one game of the season.
James Allwood opened the scoring early on with a cool left foot finish, and it was two just moments later as Jack Rose poked home from close range after good work from Kyle Charlton.
Ciaran Healy made it three just before half-time with a tidy finish, after some neat approach play from Charlie Knowles and Scott Taylor.
Having soaked up some pressure Darley went four up, Rose slotting home following a speedy break by Allwood. Healy made it five, while Knowles let rip with a left foot screamer to make it six.
There was still time for two more fantastic strikes, with Healy and Rose both finding the net with long range efforts to complete the rout.
