Footballers to help charities

NEARLY 200 footballers from across Derbyshire will take part in the YHA (England and Wales) annual six-a-side football tournament tonight (Thursday) at Cavendish Fields, Matlock.

All funds raised from both entry to the tournament and the sale of raffle tickets will go to two worthy causes; FAB (Families Activity Breaks) and Breaks for Kids.

FAB is a non-public funded Armed Service initiative run in partnership with Matlock-based YHA, providing fun and challenging activity holidays for bereaved military families who have suffered the loss of a loved one in the Armed Forces.

Simon Ainley, YHA’s head of capital fundraising said: “The holidays offer an adventure for all the family and a welcome break to meet and socialise with others who have experienced a similar loss. FAB is staffed by volunteers helping as mentors, lending a helping hand or simply being someone to talk to.”

Breaks for Kids is run by YHA, which subsidises residential breaks for disadvantaged young people.

You are invited to come and show your support for these two initiatives by watching the football tournament.

Kick off is at 6pm and entry is free. Raffle tickets will be on sale with prizes kindly donated by local companies.
