FOOTBALL-mad females enjoyed a day of training and learning new skills at Wirksworth Leisure Centre as part of the latest Football 4 Girls event.
The get-together attracted around a dozen girls aged 8-14 from across the district and was organised by the Derbyshire County FA and Derbyshire Dales District Council.
It is the second event of its kind to be held at the venue this year and a third session is to take place on August 22.
Angie Harper, football development officer (girls, women and inclusion) at Derbyshire County FA, explained: “It was a good day all round and the girls who attended certainly enjoyed it. There were a few less than last time because of the summer holidays but we are holding another one on August 22 and we hope get as many along as we can. It’s not just about teaching the girls new skills.
“It’s also about telling them what clubs are out there for them, because some are on their doorstep and they didn’t realise, so we are keen to get that information across so they can keep playing football.”
