NOT content with knocking them out of the Junior Cup en route to the final, Hurst Farm United completed the league double over Tansley FC with a 3-0 win on Saturday.
Tansley had suffered setbacks before the game, losing key players before playing United. United too had forced changes due to injuries but they started the brighter with McClean and Webster looked to test the stand-in keeper.
On 25 minutes, Webster finished from six yards after a goalmouth scramble to give United the lead.
This was soon doubled as United’s pressure mounted. Flint closed down Tansley’s full back to win the ball and break at pace.
The ball fell at the feet of United’s in-form winger Johnathan Roose who smashed the ball into the top corner. United pushed on into the final minutes of the half to grab a third when McClean skipped past the Tansley defence, adding a third with a low driving shot, taking the keeper by surprise.
The second half saw dominance from United but they failed to add to their tally with a late scare from Tansley who did have the ball in the net only to be ruled out through an infringement.
United’s captain for the day Darrel Webster won the man of the match. He was a key figure as United kept a clean sheet and continue on their great run of late.
