Wirksworth Colts Vipers u12s 4
Darley Panthers u12s 4
Kicking down the slope on a perfect pitch, Darley were looking to start strongly and quickly and press from the off. Darley got the perfect start when Scott Taylor’s crisp, first-time strike whistled into the home goal.
Goal number two came when Jack Rose swivelled and scored off the post, giving the keeper no chance.
This spurred the Vipers into life. Jack Coates in goal stood strong, assisted by Sam Elliott and Ben Bayes, whose tackles were perfectly timed. A goal did eventually come though when a long range shot gave the home side hope.
Wirksworth equalised but a Healy penalty restored the lead. With ten minutes to go, Wirksworth drew level and then took the lead, both goals coming from crosses that Vipers players were first to react to. But the Panthers weren’t finished yet and, with two minutess to go, they were level again. Again it was Rose who chased a lost cause, shaped to cross, fed the ball to the edge of the box for Taylor to shoot. He missed the ball but Alex Duns made no mistake.
from 18 yards.
This completed a brilliant game played at full pace by both teams, which was a credit to both clubs and enjoyed by a good crowd of parents and supporters.
