Matlock boss Dave Hoole expects his summer additions so far will improve the quality in the squad and portray the style of play he brought to the team during the final nine matches of last season.
Former Boston United pair, full back Jan Yeomans and schemer Harry Vince have signed in at Causeway Lane after loan spells at Matlock last season.
They join former Chester City winger Jordan Chapell, Alfreton midfielder Marcus Marshall and Jerry Nash, another midfielder, who was with Basford United last season.
“All of the players have featured at this level or above and the style of football we play meets their expectations and vice versa,” said Hoole.
“They are all high calibre players and we’re getting a good blend with a mix of youth and experience.
“Their fitness levels are up there with what we want and they also have a lot of ability.”
Hoole says he is continuing to talk to players ahead of the new season which gets under way on Saturday, August 18 with the players reporting for their first training session on June 30.
“We’re getting a good response from players of this standard and above wanting to come to the club so that’s all good,” said Hoole.
“We’re continuing to talk with lads that were here last season although one or two are away on holiday but pre season’s a while away yet and it’s going to be a busy few weeks.”
Matlock’s last day opponents in 2017/18, Shaw Lane, have resigned from the league so Hednesford Town have been switched back from the Southern League Central Division.
Hednesford though have appealed the decision, it is understood they have started building their squad with players based further south given their initial transfer from the Northern Premier.
