Jaguars end with a draw

Somersall Rangers Blues 2

Matlock Town Juniors Jaguars u14s 2

A DEPLETED Jaguars side came away from a blustery Somersall Park with a well-earned point after being under the cosh for much of this game.

The back four of Dan Wagstaffe, James Hall, Charlie Hatcliffe and Will Charlton worked tirelessly against a quick and physical home side.

Missing the influential pair of Emery and Gregory, the Jaguars took the lead against the run of play when a free-kick by the excellent Elliott Fletcher was nodded down by Shaun Byard for Hatcliffe to tap home.

Keeper Luke Greenwood’s handling was exceptional but the defence was undone shortly after the break when a long throw was nodded home at the far post.

Ben Heath battled well in midfield and, on rare forays, Sam Fawcett went close. Then Fletcher forced the keeper into a fine save.

A long shot that went in off the bar to give the home side the lead but the to their credit the visitors struck back immediately when Kit Buckley and Jake Brereton linked to put in the far-from-fit but man-of-the-match Byard who finished neatly.

It was all hands to the pump at the end and with the last kick of the game Buckley cleared off the line to cement third spot for the Jaguars who can be proud of this performance and indeed their achievements over the whole season.
