League is back in action

The new Manor Pharmacy Matlock & District Football League kicks off this weekend with some great matches lined up on day one.

Derbyshire Cup and League champions Boythorpe FC (formerly Hopflower FC) get their season underway against an all-changed Shirland Miners Welfare, who are currently building a new side for the season.

Division Two league champions Codnor Miners start their new season in Division One against Cavendish Cup and Manor Pharmacy Shield winners Chesterfield Town.

New team Ashover and newly-promted Riddings Rovers don’t start their season until the following week but the other game in Division One sees Laburnum Saints take on a Shirebrook Rangers side with only one thing on their mind this season - “silverware”.

Division Two sees a host of new sides for the 2012-2013 season. CCS Barley Mow take their bow in the Matlock Football League with a tough game against Black Hippo. New side Darley Dale Red Star start their campaign against another new side Foresters, with both looking to get their season off to a good start with all three points.

Matlock Cup winners Hurst Farm United will play AFC Lea Holloway with Tansley entertaining Wirksworth Albion. AFC South Wingfield’s first game will be the following week.
