MATLOCK’S Reynolds Stadium on Causeway Lane kindly hosted the in-form Lions on a surprisingly glorious Sunday morning.

That’s where the surprises ended though, as the Lions deployed a master class display of possession, power and a touch of pizazz that frankly bamboozled the opposition.

Rarely threatened, goalkeeper Taffe maintained his all-important vocal coaching, aiding the consistent rearguard of Richardson, Wheeldon, Roberts and Woolliscroft.

From the start, the dominance was ever present as measured passing and movement carved open the visitors, gifting chances for striking duo Brownlee and Pickard.

Midfield dynamoes Evans and Spencer dictated play, aided by the tireless work rate of wingers Main, Turner and Taylor.

The hat-trick from Pickard and a goal from Evans does not indicate the superiority.

However with the games fast running out, the display will undoubtedly give belief and confidence to challenge for the Division One title.

The Lions’ race night and disco fundraiser is on Sunday, May 1, at the Matlock Town FC social club.

Tickets are £10 and can be exchanged on the night for Monopoly money.

The first race is at 7.30pm and there are prizes for first, second and third.

Under 16s get into the event free with an accompanying adult.
