Matlock Town CFA won an eight goal thriller against Baslow to progress in the second round of the Derbyshire Cup.
It was an even start as both sides looked for an early opening.
Then on six minutes the CFA got off to a great start when Miroslav Kurtak in a centre forward position was pulled down in the box. The referee pointed to the spot and up stepped Alex Lacey drilling the ball home down the middle.
This was soon followed by a contender for goal of the season. Crossley and Evans combined down the right, Jordan Evans slotted an inch perfect pass through to Kurtak who controlled, turned and finished in some style to double the lead.
The third goal was added just before the break. Jake Hatcliffe despatched one his set piece long throws into the box. Lacey was perfectly place to bag his second of the game.
The second half saw a Baslow fightback as they pulled two goals back and were chasing an equaliser only to be caught out on the break. Callum Moorhouse battled and broke down the right. His cut back found Jordan Evans who scored past the outstretched keeper.
Baslow refused to give up and bounced back with a third to add to the tension.
Whilst Baslow were pressing up the field CFA winger Callum Moorhouse broke down field and scored with a great solo effort to seal the victory for the visitors and into the hat for the next round of the cup.
