Matlock Town were hammered 5-0 at South Shields this afternoon, ending a 10-game unbeaten run in the Evo-Stik Premier League.
The side who beat the Gladiators 3-0 earlier in the season, two days after Dave Frecklington's appointment as manager, today inflicted the worst defeat of his tenure.
South Shields started the day directly above Matlock in the table and began the game brightly, going ahead through Carl Finnigan on 11 minutes.
It was 2-0 10 minutes later, Dwayne Wiley putting through his own goal.
And Gavin Cogdon's dinked effort on 27 minutes put the game beyond Matlock's reach.
The 1,119 strong crowd had to wait until seven minutes after the interval for goal number four, Jon Shaw heading into the Matlock net.
And with six minutes remaining David Foley made it 5-0 to complete the rout.
