The Buxton boss managed to persuade experienced trio Andy Warrington, Tim Ryan and Derek Niven to sign up for the Silverlands club during the off-season.

He has also managed to bring in exciting prospects Craig King and Leon Osborne whilst Jack Broadhead arrived on loan from Chesterfield.

Morris says that the calibre of players that have arrived over the summer is a positive sign.

He said: “Woggy (Warrington) is just unbelievable. Out on the pitch he’s talking all the time and giving advice out.

“As for Niven he is just class.

“To be honest neither of them should be at this level really.

“But we’re lucky to have signed them and that’s down to the gaffer.

“He’s made some excellent signings. Young Leon is also one for future.

“If we keep everybody happy I think we can have a good push especially after the start we’ve made.”

Even at such an early stage of the campaign, the squad has already taken its fair share of knocks and niggles.

Matt Thornhill suffered a thigh strain which ruled him out of the opener against Witton.

Centre-half Ash Palmer also missed the game against Witton which in turn led to Broadhead’s arrival - on the morning of the match.

Morris commented: “Young Jack’s done brilliant. It’s hard when you come in and don’t know any of the lads.

“But I think he’s done really well for a young lad and hopefully he will go on and prove to be another good signing for us.”
