Non-league clubs can apply for share of £10m grant

Non-league football clubs have been invited to apply for their share of £10m grants being made available.

The pot is being offfered to clubs from steps three to six of the National League System, with the maximum amount available dependent on the level clubs play at.

Clubs in step three, including Northern Premier League clubs, are eligible for up to £27,000.

That figure drops to £15,000 for sides in step four, such as NPL Division One teams.

Step five clubs, such as teams in the Northern Counties East League, can receive up to £10,500 each.

Finally, £7,500 is available to clubs in step six (East Midlands Counties League, North West Counties League Division One, Northern Counties East League Division One).

The grants - which can be applied for via footballfoundation.org.uk - can be used to cover lease or mortgage payments, debt or loan repayments, utility costs, insurance, essential pitch and stadium maintenance, non-playing staff who have not been furloughed, Covid-19 compliance measures and other financial commitments that have already been made.

The cash cannot be put towards non-essential pitch and stadium work, costs which can be covered by Government support schemes, non-essential costs, purchase of land or buildings, transfer fees incurred during this period, normal business costs, sinking fund contributions and player wages.

The funding must be used by March 31.
