Rowsley hit five to see off Willington

ROWSLEY 86 proved to be the biggest scorers on Saturday in the Midlands Regional Alliance’s Premier Division.

They beat visitors Willington FC 5-2 thanks to goals from 16-year-old Jack Wilson, Dan Widdowson, Gaz Whitworth and a brace from Tim Baker.

Ashover drew 1-1 with Sandiacre Town, a result that sees the struggling Saints double their points tally for the season, while Cromford stepped up their title challenge with a 2-0 win at Holbrook St Michael’s.

Derby Rolls-Royce Leisure enjoyed a 3-2 win over Wirksworth Town and Newmount beat Matlock Sports 4-1.

In Division One, Rowsley 86 Reserves beat Pastures 3-0 and, in Division Two, Wirksworth Ivanhoe lost 2-1 to Mackworth St Francis.

Ambergate closed in on Ivanhoe thanks to a 6-0 win over Chellaston Reserves.

Both Shaun Bestwick and Wayne Randle bagged a brace of goals in the win with the other scorers being Andy Stevenson and Shaun Welch.

Finally, Andy Holmes and Tim Richards were the Wirksworth Town Reserves in a 2-1 win over Bargate Rovers Reserves.
