Runner-up spot for the under 15s

Belper Town U15s clinched the runner-up spot in a Division One play-off on Sunday by beating Spondon Dynamos Colts 6-1.

Previous games between the two teams had been close but Belper came into this match in good form, having won their last two games, scoring 13 and conceding only one.

Belper weathered early pressure, the back four of Josh Middleton, Sam Lee, Chris Vickers, Laurence Bostock and goalkeeper Tom Chinn working together brilliantly as they were to do all game.

With the midfield of Sam Birks, Dillon Nicholson and Jorge Knowles taking control of midfield, Belper began to look very threatening going forward. Scott Taylor, Liam Richardson and Dylan Garnett came forward with pace and movement and it was no surprise when Dylan opened the scoring.

He was to reach his hat-trick by half time and another goal from Liam gave Belper a 4-0 half time lead. Joe Potts came on to play his part and another goal from Dylan and a great individual goal from Sam Birks wrapped up a comfortable win. The score reflected Belper’s status as the top scorers in the league and was a deserved reward for a team that has performed well all season.

Looking ahead, Belper has opportunities for new players next season and anyone interested should contact manager Wynne Garnett on 07939 061454.
