Cook is determined to help the Blues clinch a victory to secure their position at the top of the Sky Bet League Two table.

During a press conference at the Proact Stadium, on Thursday, he said: “We’re top of the league but we know that can change. There is kudos at being top but we must get a win on Saturday.

Accrington is a really good club and we’ve been lucky enough to watch them and they have a couple of good players and they are a powerful team.

“It’s a difficult place to go to win. They will want to beat us. We’re wanting to win another game to get three more points and get us where we want to be.”

Cook, who is a former Accrington Town FC manager, is not taking Accrington’s third-from-bottom-placing for granted and will be aware the Spireites have only managed a draw in the last five meetings at the Stanley Crown ground.

The Blues were pleased to go two points clear at the top of League Two after Monday’s home draw against Portsmouth but Cook was disappointed not to have taken all three points.

He added: “It’s easy after the Portsmouth game to say “if only” but we’ve had a good run and in hindsight I would have picked a different team.

“I’m looking to make a change or two for the Accrington game because at the flare-end of the pitch we’ve got great options.

“Freshness can be good and we will pick an attacking team and try and secure some goals and win the game.”

The Spireites are determined to get back to winning ways with the League Two title in their sights and the prospect of Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final glory on March 30.
