Spireites: Chesterfield defender Neal Trotman grateful for another chance

The 25-year-old defender has played the last three games in the absence of the injured Drew Talbot and has impressed at the heart of the defence alongside Liam Cooper.

The changes have seen skipper Sam Hird slot in at right-back and Trotman, who was placed on the transfer list in November, said he was happy to be back playing.

“I kind of knew I’d get another chance, it was just a case of taking it,” he said.

“I think we compliment each other at the back and I enjoy playing alongside Coops (Liam Cooper).”

Trotman has struggled with injury this season and believes he has a point to prove each time he sets foot on the field.

He added: “The start of the season I was playing catch up but I’m feeling fit now. I feel like I’m getting better in each game.

“I always try to play with a smile on my face.”
