Spireites: ‘Chesterfield players won’t welcome trip to Borrowash,’ says Derbyshire Senior Cup opponents

The Watkinson Construction Bowl is getting ready for its biggest fixture of the season as it sets to welcome League Two’s high flying Spireites.

In a statement issued by Borrowash’s club secretary, John Robinson, urged fans of both clubs to attend.

He said: “As a club we anticipated that out biggest game of the season would be against Congleton Town in the FA Vase second round, and could not have dreamt that we would be hosting Football League opposition on our ground.

“The game is testament to the hard work our volunteers and players put in so that the club can survive year on year, and to continue developing players from the ages of nine and above.

“Whilst Chesterfield obviously have other priorities, such as consolidating their strong standing in League Two, a strong line up is expected and for the neutral an interesting game is on the cards.

“As a club we doubt many of the Chesterfield players will welcome a trip to Borrowash on a cold Wednesday night, but one thing we can guarantee is that fans, players and officials will be given a hospitable welcome and treated with the utmost respect that will match any hospitality on offer at all levels of football.”

Should the game be level after 90 minutes the tie will be settled on the night by 30 minutes extra time, and penalties if required.

Kick off for the game is scheduled for 7.45pm on Wednesday, January 15 and admission prices are frozen at £5 adults, £3 for concessions and under 16s are admitted free of charge.
