The Spireites coach is anticipating a highly-competitive game against their Evo-Stik Premier Division rivals and has challenged his players to reach the final.

Chesterfield comfortably beat Belper 4-2 in the last round of the competition, which saw Ivorian forward Armand Gnanduillet open his account for the club.

Crossley said: “We’re taking the Derbyshire Senior Cup seriously and we want to be in the final.

“It’s good for the lads to have a taste of cup competition against a good side.”

Chesterfield eased past Matlock 5-1 to retain the Banner Jones Cup in the summer.

Goals from Scott Boden, Jordan Bowery, Mark Randall and a brace from Marc Richards secured the win. Former-Spireite Gareth Davies netted for the Gladiators.

Crossley said it will be a good opportunity for some of the younger players to shine.

“There’ll be some younger lads playing and it’ll be a good test for them.

“They have got to impress us if they want contracts, if they want to be part of where we want to be they have got to show what they can do in these games.

“Matlock are a good team. I know Mark Atkins quite well and it won’t be a rollover. It won’t be easy. It will be a difficult game like most of these cup matches are,” he added.
