Morris and his teammates followed up an opening day victory over Witton Albion with an early season away win, as they ran out 1-0 winners at Frickley Athletic on Tuesday evening.

The six-point haul sees the Bucks sit at the top of the league as the only side to have won their opening two games and Morris, who bagged a brace on day one, insists that the new, aggressive style the team has employed is beginning to reap the rewards.

Speaking to the Advertiser he said: “The manager works on it constantly in training. If we do five-a-sides you have to be pressing and you have to be in other player’s faces constantly.

“He wants that relaying onto the pitch and I think the more games we get under our belt the more you’ll see us in people’s faces.

“At this level if you do that you’ll always get the ball back.”

On a personal level Morris was pleased with his double against Witton and instead of wondering what might have been, with regards to a potential hat-trick, he preferred to think about the bigger picture.

He added: “I was a bit disappointed to not get a hat-trick but I’ll certainly settle for two goals and the three points!

“Personally the start went well, but more importantly for the team it was about getting a win to start off with.

“We’ve had a tough pre-season with a few injuries.

“Ash Palmer’s been out and Matt Thornhill has been struggling.

“When the fixtures come out you look at your first few and see if you can get off to a good start so it’s nice to kick off like we have done.”

Martin McIntosh’s side now have a double-header over the holiday weekend.

Today they travel to Droylsden before local rivals Ilkeston visit the Silverlands 48 hours later.
