Superb Colts u12s hit seven goals to win thriller with just six players

Wirksworth Colts u12s Girls 7

Buxton 6

This was an explosive end-to-end game.

Colts started with a depleted side of only six girls but began really well and took the lead from a precise free-kick by Georgia Winson.

The second came after a beautiful pass from the outstanding Amie Johnson for the very impressive Holly Black to finish superbly.

Buxton grabbed a lifeline straight from the kick-off, and equalised again from the resulting start to make it 2-2.

Wirksworth pressured and grabbed a third after Millie Roper pounced on a great ball from Winson but in the last minute of the half, Buxton equalised again.

The second half started with Buxton gaining the lead for the first time but Colts responded well through Roper and Black to make it 5-4.

Buxton freshened things up with the luxury of subs, which paid off as they scored twice to take the lead but Colts took a deep breath and Roper completed her hat-trick.

The final goal was enough to win any game as Georgia Winson struck from the halfway line. Buxton threw everything at Wirksworth and it took a couple of world class saves from Jade Coley to keep them out.

As the final whistle went, the roar was not to dissimilar to a cup final.

The whole team was given girl of the game for will, desire and team spirit in a flawless display with only six girls.
