BAKEWELL Mannerians under 16s have built on last season’s success in reaching the NLD Shield Final by securing new sponsorship from local firm Carlton Technologies, a leading national heating equipment specialist.
Head coach James Adams said: “Bakewell is a small, local, friendly, but highly successful club, and this sponsorship mirrors this. The squad hopes to make the town, club and sponsor proud.”
Max Crampton, director of Carlton Technologies, added: “I am delighted that the company can support local youth programmes, which supports people playing for local clubs.”
The season so far has seen two striking victories, firstly over Melbourne, 29-22, with tries from Chris Barlow, George Smith, Connor Longson (two), and Will Adams, and then over Belper 65-0.
From start to finish, Bakewell dominated the smaller Belper team and by close of play had won with 11 tries (five from Connor Longson, three from Fraser Hope and one for Dom Jackson, John Hosken, and Chris Barlow).
Now with their new sponsorship, the team is looking for a great season and always welcomes new players. For more details about junior or senior rugby in Bakewell see www.bakewellrugby.org.uk.
