VIDEO: Coleman's men are '˜Little old Wales' no longer
As national manager Chris Coleman famously said: '˜We need to stop thinking of ourselves as little old Wales'.
Tonight his side could become the first British country since 1966 to make the final of a major tournament if they can see off Portugal in their Euro 2016 semi-final showdown.
Wales may be the smallest country ever to make it this far in a major football tournament, but their success is testament to big thinking and a deep-rooted belief in the power of #TogetherStronger.
This week, Visit Wales has been out and about on the streets of Paris to see what the rest of Europe thinks of the Welsh team’s unprecedented success in the Euros, and their impressions of the smallest country ever to reach the semi-finals.
The minute-long video (CLICK HERE TO SEE) gives an uplifting snapshot of the sentiment on the ground in France, as the rest of the world rallies behind the Welsh team, even having a stab at wishing them well in Welsh!
The video aims to show people in Europe more of the language, character, beauty and wonder of Wales – and the range of epic adventures Europeans visitors can have there this summer.
A Visit Wales spokesperson commented: “Wales’ outstanding achievements in the tournament have been reflected by exemplary conduct by the fans who are quickly becoming known as the loudest, proudest and with the biggest hearts.
“But Wales isn’t just home to one of best football teams. We are home to the world’s longest, fastest zip line at Zip World, the longest man-made waves at Surf Snowdonia and Europe’s longest place name at Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllantysiliogogogoch!
Wales will play Portugal at 8pm tonight in the semi-finals of the European Championship – the furthest the Welsh team has ever gone in an international tournament.
Whatever the result, Wales is putting itself on the map on a world stage.
The team and fans have powered on through the tournament to the sound of the official Welsh 2016 anthem, performed by the Manic Street Preachers.
