Ashover, boasting several new signings, gained their second win of the season in the Midlands Regional Alliance Premier Division when a John Cullen penalty gave them a 3-2 win over Newmount on Saturday.

Dale Carlin and Dave Kirk scored the other Ashover goals in what could prove to be an important victory for the home side.

Although Rob Eaton scored for Matlock Sports in the same division, they still lost 4-1 to Rowsley 86. Wirksworth Town did no better in losing 4-2 away at Chellaston.

Rowsley 86 Reserves, for whom Seb Walker scored, could only manage a 1-1 draw at home to Little Eaton in Division One while Ambergate lost 3-2 at Little Eaton Reserves in Division Two and Wirksworth Town Reserves had to settle for a 1-1 draw playing Roe Farm. Jacob Bradbury scored the Wirksworth goal.

Elsewhere, the result of the day saw high-flying Allenton United hammer struggling Sandiacre Town 10-1 in the Premier Division.
