Pemberton said on Monday: “What I have got to balance up is do we need them at this moment in time and give them the extra recovery or do we put them in with slight doubts whether they will be able to play 90 minutes, so it is weighing up.

“I think I have to look long-term with this one. I am sure if I called upon them they would play but I don’t want them to play and just get through it. We are just assessing it everyday and if there is a chance that we need to take then we will do it but if we don’t have to do that then I just don’t think there is any point.”

He added: “Tyson is one of those where he could be involved but I just want him right. I don’t want him at 70 or 80 per cent when it might be the sake of (missing) one game, or we put him on the bench, and he is going to be okay for the next one. We just want the little niggles that we have had to clear up and not become a problem. So that is why we are having to be sensible. We assess them everyday and obviously Tyson is one of those.”

Chesterfield were travelling down to Wealdstone on Saturday when they heard the match had been postponed.

It was only game in the country called off due to the weather conditions and the Town boss says “time will tell” whether it will help or hinder them tomorrow night.

“We were surprised that it was called off - we had no idea about it being in any doubt or anything,” Pemberton said.

“We were disappointed because we were ready to play.

“I would rather have had a game under our belts to assess where we are.”
