The 55-year-old is going to be in charge until a takeover deal for the club is completed and then a decision will be made on who is named as permanent boss.

The former Spireites academy manager got off to an encouraging start with a win against Sutton United in his first game.

Talking about what the squad has been working on in training, Pemberton said: “We are just working on trying to put them on the same page of what we are doing.

“As I have said before I wasn’t aware of whether they looked leggy because they have done a lot of games and they were tired.

“Our training ground is a little bit heavy because of the weather so that has not helped.

“It has given me a feel for it and understanding of when we are in and out of possession and just trying to organise us the best we can.

“I know half of the players anyway – that is not a problem – but some of them I don’t know and I want to get to know them better.”

He added: “I like to interact with the players, it is something that I have always done because everyone is different.

“It has been good and the response I have had in training has been excellent and this week we are going to work on stuff building up to the weekend.”
