All good things must come to an end and that was the case for Matlock RFC 1sts on Saturday.
After recording a magnificent run of seven straight wins in the Midlands One East division, they lost 30-12 at Leighton Buzzard on Saturday.
Matlock made the worst possible start after their long journey south and were 15-0 down by the time the half-time whistle was blown.
There was more to cheer about in the second half as Mike Brookes went over for a try but the home side soon pushed further ahead to all but clinch the game.
James Shooter got on the scoresheet with a try late in the game and Chris Young kicked the conversion but ultimately it was a too little too late.
