IT was not a good day for Wirksworth Town as their two sides suffered setbacks in the cup and the league.

The first team lost 5-0 to Mickleover RBL in the fifth round of the Challenge Cup while their reserves were beaten 2-1 by local rivals Wirksworth Ivanhoe in the league. Dan Smith and Garry McCade both scored for the Ivanhoe.

Cromford kept up their challenge for the Premier Division title with a 3-1 win at Matlock Sports (pictured). Josh Timmins scored the Sports goal.

There was a vital point for Ashover from a 1-1 draw with Willington. Dale Carline supplied the Ashover goal.

Rowsley 86 Reserves continue to press for a top spot. Witness their 2-0 win over Findern in which John Cooper and Billy Lester scored their goals.

There was a good point for Ambergate since it was gained away from home in a 1-1 draw against high flying Melbourne Dynamo Reserves.

Elsewhere, at the 18th time of asking Sandiacre Town recorded a win. Scott Pickard scored both of their goals in a 2-1 win over Holbrook St.Michaels. However, the three points gained failed to move them from off the bottom of the Premier Division.

A last minute header by Carl Allsopp served to give Melbourne Dynamo a 2-1 victory over Derby Royals. Adam Ross scored the other Dynamo goal while Josh Gregory netted from the penalty spot for Royals. Newmount, with a 4-2 win over Swanwick Pentrich Road, were the day’s big climbers. An upward move of two places came thanks to goals from Charles Tolliver, two, Danny Palmer and Ben Barrowdale.
