Wirksworth reply with six of the best

WIRKSWORTH Town bounced back in fine style at the weekend to defeat Sandiacre Town 6-0 in the Premier Division of the Midlands Regional Alliance.

Beaten 6-1 by Rowsley 86 in the week, Town responded in a grand manner. Jack Griffiths scored four of those goals with Carl Moore and James Newton adding the others.

Rowsley 86 made it a high scoring week as they beat Ashover 5-0, while Cromford’s cup final hopes perished as Melbourne Dynamo beat them 2-1 with all of the goals coming in extra-time.

Matlock Sports lost 3-0 on a visit to Mickleover RBL while, in Division One, Rowsley 86 Reserves maintained the free scoring winning theme set by their first team as they won 3-1 at Punjab United.

Wirksworth Ivanhoe threw the Division Two title chase wide open as they beat one of the contenders Mackworth St.Francis 3-1 with goals from Jack Higton,Craig Spencer and Ben Marsh.

Mickleover RBL appear to have transfered their cup form into their league action.

Certainly, two Premier Division wins in a week would seem to confirm this. Having beaten Chellaston 5-1 they then followed up with a 3-0 win over Matlock Sports with goals from Ben Stockley, Rob Selby and David Coe.

Their reserves finally moved off the bottom of Division One by winning 3-2 at Bargate Rovers. Dean Corney and David Baker scored for Bargate.

Melbourne Dynamo won 4-0 in league action over Willington with Danny Guild, Dave Brough, Jack Ward and Lee Scott doing their scoring while Derby Rolls-Royce Leisure and Derby Royals played out a goalless draw.

Behind to an early bizarre goal, Newmount battled back to draw 2-2 with Holbrook St.Michaels, Rich Perry and Paul Grossey netting for Newmount. Guy Wilding, meantime,scored the Swanwick Pentrich Road goal as they lost 2-1 to Chellaston.

Allestree moved ever closer to claiming the Division One title as they beat Derby Rolls-Royce Leisure Reserves 3-2 with two goals from Sam Sharp and one from Gaz Annable while Danny Henfrey and Larry Lord did the Royces scoring.

Derbyshire Amateurs slipped to the foot of the table after being beaten 3-0 by Derby Singh Brothers while Ripley Town’s season seems to be in freefall as they lost 2-1 to Swanwick Pentrich Road Reserves, Dave Roberts scoring for Ripley and Mark Waghorn and Guy Taylor for Swanwick.

Tibshelf,too, are going through a poor spell as they were beaten 3-2 at home by Holbrook St.Michaels Reserves. Stefan White and Gareth Riley scored for Tibshelf.

Little Eaton beat Pastures 5-3 after coming back from 2-0 down.

Mark Shooter and Paul Quincey both scored a brace in the win with Jaz Charlesworth adding the other goal.

Dean Cropper scored twice for Woolley Moor United as they defeated Findern 4-0. Brett Turner and Mark Taylor scored the other Moor goals.

Allenton United Reserves moved seven points cleat at the top of Division Two as they won 6-1 at Hilton Harriers, Sam Murfin scoring for Hilton.

Newton put six goals in the back of the Bargate Rovers Reserves’ net as they 6-0 with scores from Jared Newbrough,two, Phil Liddle,two, Dean Bramley and Ryan Jones.

Gav Mcreadie and Jamie Turner both scored for Little Eaton Reserves as they won 2-1 at Punjab United Reserves.

Midweek, Little Eaton Reserves won 4-2 at Pastures Reserves with Ashley Griffiths scoring both of the Pastures goals.
