Wirksworth Colts Girls u11s 4
Duffield Dynamoes 1
THE sun shone, the hail fell and the football really flowed as Duffield started the brighter and were unlucky not to take an early lead, denied by a top drawer save from Jade Coley.
Colts stepped it up a little and broke the deadlock as Jasmine Millward set up Millie Roper to finish brilliantly on the half-volley.
Roper struck again within two minutes after a neat finish from close-range.
The third goal came from a penalty after a Dynamoes defender handled in the box, Leah Ferriby stepped up only for the keeper to save but she tucked in the rebound.
In the second half, Duffield started the brighter again but Coley commanded her defence and box with precision.
The home side hit the post with a great strike which bounced away to safety, only for Roper to pick up and run at the defence and be brought down in the box.
Alicia Winson stepped up and tucked it in the bottom right corner.
Straight from the kick-off, Duffield struck the ball for goal, which took a wicked deflection and went in.
Girl of the game was Jade Coley for commanding her box and for her fantastic saves.
So Wirksworth finish runners-up in the league with this victory and look forward to their second successive cup final on May 6 at Matlock Town’s ground after what has been another hugely successful season.
