Matlock Town’s hopes of pulling away from the relegation zone were dealt another blow on Saturday as Skelmersdale United ran out 2-1 winners at the Autoworld Arena.

The Gladiators had gone in front on 16 minutes when Laurie Wilson netted from the penalty spot, but Rob McIntosh had Skem level just before half-time.

An own goal from Tom Burgin then won it for the visitors with ten minutes left, Matlock remaining in 17th place in the table.
