Golfer Charley takes national skills title
Charley Mycock, who attends Derby College and also represents Buxton and High Peak Golf Club, came through local and regional qualifying events against 1,400 other competitors to win the national title on Saturday at England’s National Golf Centre in Woodhall Spa.
The finalists had all taken part in two official challenge events at their golf clubs earlier in the year and then won through one of four regional finals.

Hide AdThe skills challenges involved putting, chipping, bunker, pitching and long game, with some great scores achieved on the challenging set-up at the world famous famous short game academy.
Performance Golf academy director Nigel Furniss commented: “ I’m really pleased for Charley who has worked extremely particularly hard on his short game to win this prestigious award.
“He has represented both Bakewell & Buxton High Peak Golf Clubs with great distinction to be crowned National Champion.”
Charley is also a member of the Performance Golf Academy Derby education and player training programme.
