Wirksworth Ivanhoe got the better of Ambergate with a 4-2 win in the Belfield MRA on Saturday.
Hosts Ambergate were missing several key players and as early as the first minute Richard Briggs cleared off the line to prevent an Ivanhoe goal.
Jode Waldron forced a fine save from Ivanhoe’s keeper with powerful drive but the visitors took the lead when Jack Higton tucked the ball home after an error from keeper Adam Bannister.
Matt Baker made a double clearance off the line from a corner before Higton added a second from the edge of the box on 31 minutes, but Ambergate pulled one back when Josh Squires netted from the penalty spot following a handball in the box.
They then equalised when Briggs put a free-kick to the back post for Waldron to head the ball back across goal and find Gary Conway unmarked who headed home from six yards to bring the game level just before the break.
It took ten minutes for the first goal of the second-half to come, a Wirksworth corner finding centre-half Liam Murphy unmarked and he headed home.
Higton then completed his hat-trick with a deflected shot, and with Ambergate keeper Adam Bannister making a good late save, the scoring was complete.
