Matlock Athletics Club Round-up

There was a best ever turnout of runners for the Tansley Hill Race last Thursday as 25 Matlock AC members also went for points in the Grand Prix.

The winner was Luke Beresford of Ripley RC (26.21) while MAC’s Ben Cartwright was third (27.11) and claims the 20 GP points.

The other MAC prize winners were: Elsbeth Grant (1st lady - 31.12), Lily Phillips (1st female junior -39.37), Alan Pickering (1st MV50 - 30.17), Sian Mead (1st LV50 - (37.39), Mick Moorhouse (1st MV60 - 34.36) and Jan Forrester 1st LV60)

Other MAC results were: Karl Webster (9th - 29.15), Anthony Marchington (32.29), Dennis Holmes (33.07), James Thorneycroft (34.41), Martin Lea (34.43), Andrew Cochrane (35.08), Daniel Ashcroft (35.28), Dennis Belbin (35.45), Gavin Simmons (35.51), Nick Harrison (36.08), Alison Pye (36.34), Steve Mead (38.49), Steve Holt (39.59), Paul Keetley (42.14), Louisa Boam 45.02) and Emma Phillips (47.31).

Meanwhile, MAC’s Toby Gill was first junior male in the ‘No Walk in the Park’ 5k in Chesterfield, finishing 17th in 20.04. Simon Flitter was hot on his heels in 18th and 20.46.

In the 1,500m fun run, Millie Davenport was 21st in 9.02, Robbie Davenport 27th in 9.25 and William Flitter 31st in 10.09.

The Derby Ramathon took place on Sunday with several Matlock AC runners taking part.

From 2,772 finishers, Billy Cartwright came home in 19th place in 1:18:35, followed by Alan Pickering in 54th in 1:23:16.

Matthew Haywood was 87th in 1:26:13 with Finn Page 87th in 1:26:32.

Daniel Ashcroft took 432nd place in 1:38:53, Katie Haywood in 587th place with anew PB of 1:42:47.

The Keswick TriHard triathlon took place on Sunday in Cumbria.

Christine Howard had a fine race to finish 42nd overall, third lady and first LV40 (2.39.36) in a field of 210.

MAC’s Peter Wilmot took on the Sinfin Classic 10k in the grounds of Elvaston Castle & Country Park on May 31. There were 402 runners with Wilmot finishing in 67th place in a time of 41.39.
