Matlock Golf Club green keeper part of elite Open staff

Matlock Golf Club's head green keeper Derek McJannett will be giving a helping hand to the green staff at Royal Troon Golf Club during The Open.

Derek a scratch golfer, who in 2014 competed in the National Senior Finals after winning the Notts Seniors Championship at Stanton-in-the-Wolds Golf Club, has been chosen to be part of the green-keeping team for the 145th Open Championship.

The Open is being held at Royal Troon from 10th to 17th July.

He will work alongside Troon’s home green keepers and assist with early morning and evening course preparation and during the tournament itself will be required rake and maintain one of the course bunkers.
