Matlock Golf Club are set to take part in National Golf Month throughout May.
National Golf Month is an initiative driven by the British Golf Industry Association to give Golf Clubs the opportunity to promote special offers that will encourage lapsed and new golfers to play the game regularly.
England Golf are supporting the initiative through the “Get into Golf” promotion and Matlock Golf Club have opted into the programme.
They are therefore promoting a series of courses through their club professional, Christian Goodman.
The Get into Golf sessions will run over a four-week duration of one-hour sessions at a cost of £25 for the complete course, and will include all range balls and equipment hire.
The courses will take place at Matlock Golf Club’s new driving range and will start on Wednesday, May 7 from 6-7pm and 7-8pm and run for four consecutive Wednesdays.
The courses are being supported and subsidised by the Derbyshire Golf Partnership.

Matlock Competition News
With the first round matches of the prestigious Taskers Trophy Competition now completed there were mixed results for Matlock Golf Club’s four entries.
Matlock A Team secured an away win by five matches to two against Mapperley E whilst Matlock D team lost by the same margin away to Beeston Fields A.
Making good use of their home draw, Matlock B Team completed a 4-3 win over Burton A however Matlock C Team couldn’t make home advantage count as they went down 3-4 to Erewash Valley A.
In Division Two of the Inter Club Foursomes Competition played at Matlock on Wednesday, April 23, the pairing of last year’s captain Ian Marr with Les Mooney proved crucial as they notched a five-up win against Erewash Valley; with Matlock’s second pair of Bob Whyld and Andrew Turk suffering a four hole reversal the combined team score gave Matlock a narrow one-up victory.
The next round takes them away to Alfreton or Chapel en le Frith.
Results from the club’s Bank Holiday Stableford Competition held on Easter Monday were as follows:-
Division One - 1 Craig Longmore (40pts), 2 Marc Beresford (37)
Division Two - 1 Ian Waite (37), 2 Bob Vine (36)
Division Three - 1 Brian Hardy (40), 2 Tony Bannister (38)
Division Four - 1 Ian Wheatcroft (35), 2 John Oldfield (35)
The veterans competition was won by Keith Cuff with 40 points.
Whilst the men’s and ladies Medal No 1 due to be played on Saturday (26th) was postponed due to heavy overnight rain the juniors completed their Medal on the previous day.
In the CONGU Section Daniel Latimer was in first place with a score of Gross 93- Net 65, in second place Tomas Mooney, Gross 86 Net 70, and in the domestic section Tom Fennah with Gross 88 Net 54.
