The County T20 Cup Semi-Finals were played at four centres on Sunday as a knockout, each involving four qualifying clubs from the first round.
Matlock CC were involved in Group C, hosted by Nutbrook CC.
Matlock beat Staveley Welfare by six wickets in their first game.
Staveley scored 118-8 (Chris Fletcher 4-20) to which Matlock replied with 119-4 with two overs to spare. Matt Cluer was dominant with 45 not out, ably supported by 29 from Devon Conway and 20 from Kevin Leatherday.
In their second game, Matlock batted first, scoring 148–6, major contributions coming Leatherday with 29, Matt Cluer 40 and Devon Conway 35.
Nutbrook, requiring 7.3 runs per over, managed 63–9. Ed Lander (3-17) and Chris Fletcher (2-10) removed the first five batsmen and Steve Pell, in his one over, bowled his fellow captain.
Matlock now go forward to the finals, to be held at the County Ground, Derby, on September 23 and are first on at 11am, playing Group D winners Sawley and Long Eaton. Group A winners Alfreton CC then play Group B winners Eckington CC. The winners meet in the final, at 5pm.
All qualifying teams have met in Division One league games and this will be Matlock’s latest participation in the finals day, having lost to Swarkestone last year.
