Mixed day for Baileans

Matlock Baileans firsts put in a hard-working performance at in-form Harbourn in the Midlands Premier League but fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat.

In an end-to-end game, Harbourn notched the only goal of the game from a short corner in the first-half and always spread the play to keep their options open, making it hard for Baileans to cut out passes down the wings.

Matlock’s defence played well with keeper Alison Millyard making some fine saves, but Harbourn took the points.

Iris Kleckova was named man-of-the-match.

Matlock host Leicester this weekend.

Baileans fourths recorded a 1-0 win at home to Wulfric on Saturday.

Lauren Craven scored the only goal after good work by Laura Loeber , with Loeber and Holly Maycock jointly taking the man-of-the-match accolade.

A depleted Baileans fifths fell to a 3-1 lost against Belper.

After Belper took the lead, Matlock equalised when Liz English produced a reverse stick shot to beat the keeper following a penalty corner.

Belper, however, scored two late goals to win the game.

Lowri Heap was awarded man-of-the-match.
