Mixed day for Baslow

THE Hathersage v Calver game in Division One of the Sheaf Sports Yorkshire & Derbyshire Cricket League fell foul of the weather on Saturday.

Baslow’s game against Grindleford in Division Two went ahead although it resulted in a seven-wicket defeat as Grindleford bowled Baslow out for 132 and then lost only three wickets in reaching their target.

Youlgrave Lodge’s game against Shardlows was abandoned in Division Four while, in Division Five, Baslow II continued their promotion push.

They restricted Apperknowle III to 107, largely thanks to an impressive 5-9 from Zac Collins. Matt Wainwright (57) assured top spot in the standings as Baslow made it home with four wickets to spare.

Hathersage II took advantage of the opportunity to play only their third game of the season and complete yet another win. They skittled Woodhouse for just 53 and raced to an eight-wicket triumph.

No play was possible in the fixture between Ashford in the Water II and Apperknowle II.
