DERWENT Bowmen Archery Club’s Andrew Randall has helped his university to success in the Universities Indoor Archery Championships.
At The Telford International Centre, the 19-year-old ace, a member of the Darley Bridge-based club, shot really well and helped The University of Nottingham archery team to win the overall team trophy.
The competition was tight and universities from all over the country took part.
Andrew managed to score so highly (591 out of 600 points) that he won the individual medal too. His high score was a new Universities Games record.
Derwent Bowmen Archery Club members are delighted he continues to do so well and wish him all the best in his bid to become an Olympic competitor. He is currently in the Team GB longlist for the Olympics later this year.
Meanwhile, Derwent Bowmen Archery Club is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2012 and plans are afoot for the landmark. Details will be in the Mercury nearer the time.
