Matlock’s Christine Howard took part in the ETU European Duathlon Championships last weekend in Limerick, Ireland.
She is the current 40-44 year old national champion in the run-bike-run discipline.
Representing Great Britain, Howard was in contention throughout the race after strong performances on both runs and the biking discipline, together with her usual smooth transitions.
The first two places went to Dutch and German competitors, leaving Howard to do battle with fellow Brit Vicki Wade for the final podium place.
The two were entwined in a battle right from the start but Howard had just enough to outsprint Wade to the line to take a superb third place and bronze medal.
